Tutoring takes place during the school year for University of the Pacific, and we are closed for major holidays and breaks throughout the year. - How do I begin?
You can start by completing a Tutor Request Form. The form gives us information about the student who will recieve tutoring, including subjects they need help in, and times they are available to recieve tutoring. The form can be accessed on our web page, or a printed copy is available at our front desk.
Completed forms can be dropped in our mail slot, emailed, or returned to the front desk. You must include a copy of the students most recent report card or progress report. Once we recieve the form, we start our matching process. - Can I start right away?
Once we have recieved your completed Tutor Request Form and most recent report card, we choose from our Pacific student tutors to find a match. Several factors go into this matching process, including subject matter and scheduleing. This process can take as long as 10 business days during peak times. As soon as your match is made, our Center Managers will call you and let you know that you should hear directly from your tutor. That way, you can set up a convenient time for your first meeting and get started!
- How often can we meet?
Tutoring can take place as often as you wish. We recommend with school age students that tutoring take place once a week for younger students, and more frequently for older students with complex subjects. Tutoring sessions are a minimum of one hour in length, and up to two hours long. You can work with your tutor to see what works best for you.
