BIJQ Play at the United Nations

On Wednesday, April 24, the UN Department of Public Information and the Brubeck Institute jointly hosted “Jazz, A Language for Peace: The First Dave Brubeck Forum in honor of the General Assembly Committee on Information” at UN Headquarters. It featured the Brubeck Institute Jazz Quintet, with special guest appearance by Darius Brubeck. It coincided with the observance of the International Jazz Day, a UN observance, on April 30.

2013 Brubeck Festival

March 18-23, 2013 in Stockton, California for the 12th annual Brubeck Festival.

World-renowned jazz trumpeter-composer, nine-time Grammy winner Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra headlined the music and education jazz extravaganza on March 22.

Jazz Legend Dave Brubeck '42 Dies at 91

Jazz icon Dave Brubeck, a world-renowned pianist and composer of jazz and classical music whose experimentation with unusual time signatures introduced millions of listeners to jazz, died early December 5 in Norwalk, Conn., from heart failure. He would have turned 92 December 6.

A 1942 graduate of University of the Pacific, Mr. Brubeck achieved extraordinary success throughout his music career, including the Dave Brubeck Quartet's highly acclaimed album "Time Out" (1959), which sold more than two million copies and remains one of the best-selling jazz albums of all time. Read the full story
