Andrew Schneiderman
Andrew Schneiderman was born and raised in Los Angeles. His interest in jazz began in high school as Steve Isoardi, a local jazz historian and teacher, opened the door to a lifelong passion. Along with two best friends who were aspiring jazz musicians, Andrew immersed himself in the LA jazz scene. He became inspired to devote his professional life to jazz after his experience working with LA musicians, writers, and community members to help legendary bassist Henry Grimes get back into the jazz scene after an absence of many years.
Andrew earned a Bachelor of Arts in Ethnomusicology with a concentration in jazz and American culture from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. He is a classical vocalist and sang in Washington University's Concert Choir for four years. He also produced an on-campus jazz performance series that featured local jazz musicians.
Prior to coming to Pacific in Fall 2009, Andrew worked in jazz programming at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. At the Kennedy Center, he worked in event planning and coordination, artist management, and writing program copy. He also worked as tour manager for My Dear Disco, an Ann Arbor based pop music band, traveling throughout the Midwestern and Southern U.S. He has also worked for the education department of the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
In the Brubeck Institute, Andrew works with visiting artists, as a production manager for the Brubeck Festival, Summer Jazz Colony, and special events. He writes program copy and works in tour management with the Brubeck Institute Jazz Quintet.
