ETS Mission & Objectives
ETS helps faculty and staff envision, plan, and implement university-wide technology solutions that can enhance and transform teaching, student learning and scholarship. ETS will provide the leadership necessary to help faculty, departments and schools achieve their educational technology objectives, to help schools align their technology objectives with those of the institution, and to create learning environments that enable student-centered learning.
We accomplish our mission by partnering with faculty and staff:
- To design and develop instructional materials that personalize the student learning experience
- To promote the use of Pacific's Course Management System (BlackBoard)
- To design and construct classroom learning environments that enable faculty to deliver digital learning materials and rich multimedia content effectively
- To enhance student-faculty relations outside of the classroom, to promote interactions among students, and to enable broader contact with divergent communities that are beneficial to the academic experience through computer-mediated communication and video-conferencing
- To help faculty and staff select and deploy tools that can facilitate research, scholarship, and the creative activities that complement faculty teaching and staff responsibilities
- To assist faculty in the development of budget proposals by locating technology-related products and pricing information
- To meet regularly with faculty to determine their needs, aggregate demand, and promote cost sharing whenever possible
- To improve communication with the Office of Information Technology by collecting information from faculty and staff (and their local service providers) on a range of technology issues that affect teaching, learning, and scholarship
- To publicize and encourage innovative uses of technology among the university community
