Central Valley Youth Symphony

Since 1965 the Central Valley Youth Symphony (CVYS) has provided young people ages 8-22 in San Joaquin and surrounding counties with the opportunity to play great symphonic music while making new friends!  Weekly rehearsals on the beautiful campus at the University of the Pacific prepare our student musicians for 3 - 4 concerts each year in Stockton, Tracy and Lodi.  CVYS features two orchestras where students in both groups receive expert coaching from Music Director Thomas Derthick and Preparatory Orchestra Conductor Shane Kalbach.  Faculty and students from the University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music also assist throughout the season.  Beginning in the fall of 2018, CVYS will be under the leadership of the University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music.

If you are a talented musician between the ages of 8 and 22, WE WANT YOU!

Auditions are available by appointment and are held at the University of Pacific.

Call 1-209-946-CVYS or email us at cvys@pacific.edu
to schedule your appointment.

New students are welcomed throughout the school year!

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL MUSICIANS
All students (including current CVYS members) must first audition for Mr. Kalbach conductor of the Preparatory Orchestra.  Students that potentially qualify for the Symphony Orchestra will be called back to audition for Mr. Derthick.
