Admission Requirements

Prerequisites
The prerequisites for each certificate are shown below.

Computing for Data Science

  • Basic programming skills in some language (loops, conditionals, data types, arrays)
  • Familiarity with descriptive statistics (mean, standard deviation, correlation)  

Machine Learning

  • Statistics (frequentist and Bayesian approaches, covariance, distributions)
  • Linear Algebra (matrix/vector ops, orthogonality, generalized inverse)
  • Introductory Calculus (derivatives)  

English Proficiency: All lectures, course materials and exams are conducted in English.       

Technology Requirements
Participants will attend lectures via live web-based video conferencing. Furthermore, all lecture materials, including video recordings of the lectures will be delivered via the Internet. Participants must therefore have access to a computer and a high-speed Internet connection.   

International Participants
International participants are welcome to apply to this online certificate offering as this does not require a US visa. This program does not enable participants to obtain or maintain an F-1 visa status. All lectures will be conducted during the US Pacific time zone. All lectures are recorded for further review after the lecture.
