The Quad is the main dining hall and is open from 7 am to 7 pm.
It’s like a huge buffet! On any given day, they offer five
different hot meals, two kinds of soup, burgers and fries, a sandwich
bar, two kinds of frozen yogurt, and my favorite part, a humongous
salad bar. Not to mention the endless desserts. Vegan meals are
available every day, as well as a special expo meal like “design
your own” stir-fry. There is something for everybody, and
no one ever goes hungry.
The Summit is not only a great place to grab a quick bite, it’s a central meeting place as well.
The Summit is the other main place to eat on campus, and it’s more like a café. It’s open late, so I go there in the evening to get Starbucks coffee and study. The Summit is a great place for a quick lunch, since they always have made-to-order burritos and gourmet sandwiches you can grab on the way to class. I love the smoothies too. I always see professors and students eating and hanging out at the Summit—it’s right in the center of campus.
Tiger’s Grocery is the campus convenience store. It’s run
by ASUOP, so only students work
there. In the afternoons, I go in there for ice-cream or a cold
drink. For students who live in on-campus apartments, Tiger’s
Grocery is great because you can get just about anything there,
like microwave popcorn or brownie mix.
Bon Appetit is the campus catering company, and they do a great job. What I like best is that they always listen to and respect feedback from students. I saw carrot-ginger soup on the menu for like four days, so I told one of the managers, “I’m not a fan of carrot-ginger soup and I don’t think anyone else is four days in a row,” so now it’s only on the menu once a week or so. They really try to fit our needs.
