2014 Latino Heritage Month Celebration

Pacific's Latino Heritage Month celebration will feature a performance of Ballet Folklorico and "Los Tres Musicos," soccer tailgate parties, a film, a MEChA reunion and other special events.

Ballet folkloricoVoces de Nuestros Antepasados (Voices of our Ancestors)
9/20 - 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. in Faye Spanos Concert Hall 
Mexican Ballet Folklórico de Frank Zapata, Los Danzantes del Pacifico, Danza Azteca Yolotl Tonanzin and Stockton Harmony. Tickets available at the door are $10 for adults; $5 for children; free for Pacific students with ID. 

Film: "La Bestia"  
Le Bestia9/25 - 8:00 p.m. in the Janet Leight Theatre
This new documentary "La Bestia examines the plight of Central American migrants during their dangerous journey across Mexico to the United States.  Introduction and discussion after the film with Pacific Professor Dr. Traci Roberts-Camps. (Free/Gratis)

Raquel AldanaEducational Forum on Children at the Border  
10/1 - 7:00-9:00 p.m. in Grace Covell Hall
Hear information about what is happening at the border with unaccompanied minors from Central America, with guest speaker Raquel Aldana, director of the Inter-American Program at Pacific McGeorge School of Law. (Free/Gratis)

Noche de Música featuring Los Tres Músicos
10/18 - 8:00-10:00pm in the Bechtel Center 
Returning for their third Stockton appearance, the LA-based trio, Los Tres Músicos, performs folk and popular music from all corners of the Spanish speaking world. The group gives short narrative introductions to many of the songs, provides lyrics so that the audience can sing along, encourages participation and takes song requests. The Noche de Música is a celebration of Latin culture for students, staff, alumni and the local community.
