Staff Bios

Tom Vecchione image Tom Vecchione, PhD, Assistant Vice President and Executive Director for Career Development
Tom Vecchione recently joined Pacific as the new Assistant Vice President and Executive Director for Career Development. Vecchione comes to Pacific from Elon University in North Carolina where for the past 7 years he served as Executive Director of Career Services and Assistant Professor. Prior to Elon, he directed Career and Placement Services at Ohio Wesleyan University as well as at Ohio State.
He brings 20 years of leadership in career services and employer relations to his new role. Among his recent accomplishments, Vecchione was instrumental in helping revamp Elon's career services operation into being recognized as one the finest in the nation. He also initiated an employer partners program and spearheaded the development and coordination of the campus-wide Student Outcomes Assessment & Reports Team. He holds a PhD in counselor education from Ohio University.
Deb Crane Image Deborah Crane, MA, Director of Campus Career Partnerships
Deborah Donnini Crane has more than 20 years of experience within Student Life including Student Activities, Housing and Greek Life, and Career Services. Deborah has presented numerous workshops for students at Pacific and at local high schools on resume writing, interviewing skills, networking, and job search strategies.  She also teaches a Political Science Career Class in the College of the Pacific.  Deborah is a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) and Mountain Pacific Association of Colleges and Employers (MPACE).  She currently serves on the MPACE Executive Board as the Director of Education and Research.  Deborah co-authored an article titled, "Student Social and Emotional Competence in the Hiring Process", which was published in the April 2011 NACE Journal.  She is also a certified practitioner of the Meyer's Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory.  Deborah holds a bachelor's degree in English and a Master's degree in educational administration from the University of the Pacific.
Bailey Gutierrez Image Bailey Gutierrez, MSAssistant Director for First and Second Career Programs
Bailey joined Pacific in October 2015. She has experience working in Career Counseling and Academic Advising with a diverse multicultural student population. Assisting students with their professional development, maintaining a student centered learning environment, and helping students advance to reach their goals is her main focus. Bailey has a Master of Science in Counseling-College Counseling and Student Affairs from California State University, Fresno.
S Edminster Image Shannon Edminster, MS, Career Advising and Success Specialist
Shannon recently moved from Wisconsin and joined the Pacific's Career Resource Center in 2016.  Shannon comes from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse where she completed her Master of Science in Education in Student Affairs Administration graduate program.  Prior to working at Pacific, she has worked in Career Services, Leadership and Involvement, Orientation, and Employer Recruitment.  Shannon is excited to bring her experience to the Pacific and help students achieve their own professional success.
Daniel Shaw Daniel Shaw, MS, Daniel joined Pacific in the Summer of 2017.  He recently moved to California from Western New York, where he was a Career Counselor at the University at Buffalo.  He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and recently earned his Master of Science in Higher Education Administration.  His background includes academic advising, student activities, and working with first generation students.
Chris Haruta Image Christine Haruta, Director of Corporate and Employer Relations
Chris has been working in Career Services as an Employer Developer since 2006. She has a B.A. degree in Radio/TV Broadcasting and has worked in the marketing and advertising industries as a copywriter, media buyer, sales associate, marketing assistant and customer service representative. She leverages these various experiences to not only build strong relationships with recruiters but also to collaborate with them to promote their organization and career opportunities to Pacific students and alumni. Chris is a member of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) and Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). She enjoys doing presentations for students on the importance of developing a professional online presence and how to build a strong LinkedIn profile.

Sue Daugherty, Internship Development Specialist
Sue joined Pacific's Career Resource Center in 2016 bringing over 25 years of diverse business experience in recruitment, account management, business development and customer service. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism/Public Relations from Washington State University. As a parent, business person, and conscientious supporter of our community, Sue is strong believer in the value of developing meaningful "real Life" work experiences that contribute to a student's future success and broaden their outlook on life.

Samantha Pfeiffer

Samantha Pfeiffer, Internship Development Specialist                                                                                   Samantha joined the Career Resource Center in July 2016 after completing the Student Affairs graduate program at Pacific.  Prior to Pacific, she worked in the area of Human Resources and Recruiting in the banking industry for 11 years.  She holds a bachelor's degree in Business Management and a master's degree in Human Resource Development from Clemson University.

Ana Argueta, Business Support Specialist
Ana Argueta was born and raised in Guatemala City.  She joined the Career Resource Center team in 2004 where she has become an integral part of the CRC's day-to-day operations and provides a variety of services, including Front Desk coordination, student worker supervision and training, office operations, budget administration, and assists with CRC event planning.  She is known for her customer service and student centered approach to her work.  Ana has a passion for diversity and inclusion and co-facilitates Visions, Inc. trainings at Pacific.
Colleen Straub Image Colleen Straub, Administrative Assistant
Colleen joins the Career Resource Center with over ten years of experience at the University of the Pacific.  Her previous roles have included positions in the Pacific Dental Care Clinic, Development, Athletics and the Finance Center, in addition to assisting students and faculty at the College of the Pacific.  Prior to coming to the Pacific, Colleen worked in the staffing industry and successfully placed many candidates. She is excited to bring her knowledge of the University programs and her staffing experience into her new role as an Administrative Assistant in the CRC.  Her favorite hobbies are gardening, cooking, collecting recipes and spoiling her dogs.
