Placement & Testing: Information & Deadlines

Please thoroughly read the information below. You may not need to test due to your submitted standardized test results, articulated courses, and/or your major.

How to check your course placement:

  1. Log in to your insidePacific account
  2. Enter your PacificNet ID and password
  3. Choose "Placement/Transfer"
  4. Click on the "here" to view your personal placement information, transfer credits or test credit evaluations.

Missed the June 1, 2018 deadline? Please continue to complete all testing as soon as possible. Also, remember to forward your most recent test results (SAT, ACT, AP, etc.) and final transcript to Pacific.


Math Placement: The below chart provides the various pathways to math placement. Placement will be established by your highest test score submitted. Transferable math college coursework may also be used for placement.

If you do not meet any of the above pathways or wish to challenge your placement, students will need to take Pacific's ACCUPLACER exam. Pacific will be offering math placement testing on the Stockton campus  at no charge. Please see below for scheduling math placement testing. For those students wishing to test by virtual remote proctor, please scroll down for directions on how to make an appointment at the bottom of this page. Chemistry Placement: Please check to see if this is required for your major. A list of all majors requiring the chemistry placement exam can be found below the "Chemistry Assessment" portion of your insidePacific "Placement/Transfer" tab. Students are placed based on three possible pathways: SAT Chemistry Subject Test score of 550 or above; AP Chemistry exam score of 2, 3, 4 or 5; Completing the Pacific online Chemistry Placement Exam.

  • The Pacific Chemistry Placement Exam is available online via CANVAS and can be taken from home. Log in to CANVAS here. Your username and password are the same as your insidePacific. Select "Courses", click on "Chemistry and language placement tools for 2018-2019".

 

Foreign Language Placement: This exam is only necessary if you wish to take a foreign language during your first semester at Pacific, in a language that you have taken previously.

  • The Pacific Language Placement Exam is available online via CANVAS and can be taken from home. Log in to CANVAS here. Your username and password are the same as your insidePacific. Select "Courses", click on "Chemistry and language placement tools for 2018-2019".

 

Writing Placement: Writing placement is established by either a submitted SAT or ACT score.

Transfer students who do not have a completed transferable course or standardized test (SAT/ACT) score on Evidence-Based Reading and Writing should take the Pacific's writing diagnostic exam. Making Appointments for Math and Writing Placement Exams

You need to make an appointment before you can take one or both of these exams; however we also offer some flexibility to accomodate your schedule.

Stockton Campus Appointments for Math Placement: Math placement testing is available on the Stockton campus for those students who do not have a math placement or wish to challenge their math placement. Be sure to check your insidePacific "Placement/Transfer" tab to see if testing is necessary. Appointments are offered Monday-Friday and can be scheduled by contacting us by either phone, (209) 946-2458, or email at placement@pacific.edu.


ACCUPLACER  virtual remote math testing: If you are unable to test on the Stockton campus and/or would prefer to take your math placement exam online, through remote proctoring, please click on the following link for technical requirements:https://prod.examity.com/systemcheck/computerreadinesscheck.aspx.

Once you have determined that your computer meets these requirements, please click here to receive the "Honor Code for Online Placement Testing." Fill out the Honor Code form completely and submit it to placement@pacific.edu . You will then receive a voucher allowing you to complete your online exam; students will need to provide a government issued picture ID for verification to the online proctor. Please note, there is a $25 testing fee for this service through Examity(proctoring partner for ACCUPLACER).

Stockton Campus Appointments for Writing Placement: Please email your name, Pacific student identification number, the date and time you would like to take the exam, and a contact phone number to placement@pacific.edu. You will then receive a confirmation email with your scheduled date, time and instructions. You may also call (209) 946-2458 to schedule your appointment. Please note, you would ONLY need to take this exam if you do not have a standardized test score in Evidence Based Reading and Writing (SAT) or Writing (ACT).
