McGeorge School of Law
With a rich 75-year history, McGeorge School of Law is among the most
prominent law schools in the West. Its 22-acre Sacramento campus is
the largest dedicated law campus in the world. McGeorge alumni serve
in influential roles in state and federal government, legislatures and the
judiciary. Because of the expertise of its faculty, McGeorge claims
distinction in international business and development, trial advocacy
and dispute resolution, and government and public policy.
The School’s Summer Institute on International Legal Studies has been
held in Salzburg, Austria for nearly 30 years, the latter half of which has
featured Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy as a faculty member.
A growing program in international water rights reflects the reality that
water is expected to be the key global resource in this century, much as
oil was in the last.
McGeorge is active locally, as well. A variety of on-campus legal clinics
offer students legal experience while providing assistance to community
members. The School is also active in local economic development
efforts, including work with former NBA star Kevin Johnson’s St. Hope
organization and efforts to improve the Oak Park neighborhood.
