Ordering A Mobile Device

The Pacific Technology Division assists university staff with ordering duty phones and mobile hotspot devices (e.g., devices that rely on a cellular connection) services. We offer the following services:

  • Duty Phone

A Duty Phone is a university-owned device assigned to a specific department. Duty phones are available to employees for rotating on-call responsibilities, responding to maintenance needs, or other purposes that require an immediate response. Duty phones are made available as per the department's check-in/check-out procedures.

The university encourages only requesting duty phones which mainly offer text and call features. In cases where job duties cannot be fulfilled via a duty phone, employees have an option to request an Exception device. Exception devices need approval from Pacific Technology's VP.

  • Loaner Device

A Loaner device is a Pacific Technology-owned device assigned to a specific department. Loaner devices are available for employees to conduct research projects or required by the department for specific purposes. It can also be used if the duty phone is lost/broken. Loaner devices are available as per the Pacific Technology Division's check-in/check-out procedures.

  • Stipend

The university also offers a Stipend request for those who use their personal devices for business purposes. Only managers can determine if the employees qualify for a stipend.
