Hendel Almétus is a composer based in Northern California. His music has been performed and read by many prominent artists including soprano Tony Arnold, Guitarist Magnus Andersson, and ensembles such as the Empyrean Ensemble, the Meridian Brass, the One Art Ensemble, the Wet Ink Ensemble, and Alarm Will Sound. "Rencontre" from his "Rêves Transcendants" for soprano and chamber ensemble was featured on WQXR Classical radio station in 2013. Dr. Almétus is a Margrit Mondavi fellow, and has held residency with the BAU Institute at Camargo in Cassis, France. He has attended the Freie Universität Berlin International Summer program and the Wellesley Composers Conference. He holds degrees from Houston Baptist University, The Eastman School of Music, as well as a Ph.D. From the University of California at Davis. He joined the conservatory of music at the University of the Pacific as a visiting lecturer in 2014. He has also taught at the University of California at Davis, Gavilan College, Woodland Community College, and Cosumnes River College. His course assignment for the 2017-2018 Academic year at the conservatory include: Aural Perception III & IV, Introduction to Orchestration, Music Fundamentals, Music Theory IV, composition seminars on new performance techniques, and New resources in Pitch.
