Administrative Services Credential

The Administrative Services Credential authorizes the holder to provide supervisory services in California public schools grades 12 and below, including preschool and classes organized for adults. The credential allows service at the school site and district office as administrators, principals, assistant principals, assistant superintendents, and superintendents.

The Administrative Services Credential is required to provide the following services in California public schools:

  • Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of instructional services at the school site level.
  • Evaluate certificated and classified personnel employed at the school site level.
  • Enforces rules and district policies related to school staff and students

Admission + Application Requirements:

  • Completed online application and review by the Educational Administration Department faculty
  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited university
  • Five years of successful full-time teaching experience utilizing the qualifying credential
  • Passing scores on the California Basic Skills Educational Test - CBEST
  • An overall grade point average of at least a 3.0 in credential courses
  • A written statement describing personal and professional characteristics for administrative service
  • Possession and copy of a valid basic teaching credential or services credential with a specialization in pupil personnel (counselor or school psychologist), health or librarian services as specified in the California Education Code
  • Negative TB test less than 4 years old
  • Open credential file

To be eligible for the Certificate of Eligibility or the Preliminary Administrative Services Credential, at the end of the program the student must have completed at least 5 years of credentialed service in CA.
