Pharmacy Practice Experiential Programs

Standards from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) state that one-third of pharmacy school curriculum must be experiential, comprising of Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience (IPPE) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE). The importance of student development to become practice ready pharmacist is paramount. University of the Pacific Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences has been a pioneer in the decentralized regional coordinator (RC) model, placing 13 full-time and four part-time clinical faculty, referred to as RC, in strategic locations (regions) to effectively support students in their experiential education and preceptors with professional development opportunities. The decentralized regional coordinator model was noted as exemplary from the accrediting body, ACPE.

Our regional coordinators are experiential faculty, dedicated to the highest accreditation standards and to the development and implementation of best practices, while providing personalized attention to students. Our adjunct faculty and preceptors are exemplary practitioners who facilitate exceptional experiential education and mentorship to our students as they begin their practice careers. The Office of Professional Programs is the central office to provide administrative support to students, preceptors, and RCs with experiential activities.
