The dates of the 2019 Summer Jazz Colony are Sunday, August 4th-Friday, August 9th. Colonists arrive on Saturday, August 3rd and leave on Saturday, August 10th.
The Summer Jazz Colony is a one-week, intensive educational program in jazz performance for a very limited number of exceptionally talented students. They come from throughout the United States and beyond to study with Brubeck Institute faculty, guest artists and master teachers, in combo rehearsals, master classes, classes in jazz theory and advanced jazz improvisation, and seminars on the music of Dave Brubeck and other topics. Colonists have extensive opportunities to visit with the artists and clinicians, participate in numerous jam sessions, and perform in concert.
Brass Players (Trumpet/Trombone), Saxophonists, Guitarists, Pianists, Bassists, Drummers and Vocalists are all encouraged to apply.
The Institute accepts online applications from talented, accomplished, and highly motivated students who are entering their sophomore, junior or senior years in high school. Graduating seniors are also eligible to apply. Click here for application guidelines, deadlines and fees.
