Public Safety & Services
The Public Safety department of the University of the Pacific provides 24 hour, 365 days a year protection for the university.
Full Sworn Officer Powers
Pacific is only one of two private universities in California whose officers have full police officer powers. Pursuant to a memorandum of understanding with the City of Stockton and the Stockton Police Department, Pacific officers receive and maintain state-mandated training standards. Though they are able to use their police officer powers off campus, their main jurisdiction is the Stockton campus.
Reporting Suspicious Activity
Report suspicious activity to the Department of Public Safety:
- Non-emergency 209.946.2537 (62537 from University phones)
- Emergency 209.946.3911 (63911 from University phones)
Public Safety Services
Public Safety provides a full range of police services, including but not limited to, crime prevention and investigation, making arrests, calls for services (i.e. jumpstart, escorts, etc.), traffic enforcement, parking enforcement, and security at special events.
All crime reports taken by university officers are sent to the Stockton Police Department. As the Stockton Police Department has more resources available to them, their assistance is sometimes requested for criminal investigations.
To satisfy the requirements of the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Crime Statistics Act, we publish past crime statistics.
