Political Science

“My time at Pacific has taught me to be open to change.
Going into university, I was very focused on one track, but since then, I've done so many new things – traveling as much as I did and meeting as many people as I have. Being open to it all has been a really big thing for me.”

“Political science is pretty flexible with the types of classes you can take within the major.
I really enjoy the theory side of politics, so for my elective courses I mostly do theory – like international political theory and modern ideologies.”

“In my second semester at Pacific I got a job with the rock tower, and I became really invested in the climbing community. We have people who’ve never climbed before to people who have climbed for years, and we try to go to Yosemite regularly. That’s my biggest thing outside of school–I’m constantly climbing.”
“Botswana had a big cultural impact on me–the people there were really open to talking and having good discussions”
Could you tell us about your study abroad experience, and how it impacted you?
"I spent a semester in Madrid, Spain, and then flew to Botswana for my second semester. In Spain I was living with a host family and I talk to them still, at least once a month. Botswana had a big cultural impact on me – the people there were really open to talking and having good discussions, which is what I think helped me grow the most.”

"If it wasn't for my professors, I wouldn't have chosen to go to Botswana, and they’ve helped me with so much more than just the academic side of things&mdashI don't know where I would be without them.”
