October in Stockton is overflowing with events like a trick-or-treat basket with sweet goodies!

Stockton is one of the most diverse cities in the nation. The local arts and food scenes have roots in many cultures and ethnicities. This month, we’ve got a plethora of Halloween celebrations and seasonal festivals such as Dia De Los Muertos Street Fair or Filipino American History Month Fest. But then, don’t miss uniquely local happenings such as evening concerts at Take 5 Jazz Club or Central Valley Agua Fresca Competition.

With such a diverse calendar of events, everyone will find something to do in Stockton in October.

Find fun Halloween celebrations

Oct. 29, Dia de los Muertos Street Fiesta at the Mexican Center and Gallery is a local favorite with Mariachi and cultural dance groups, the Catrina Pageant, food, arts and vendors.

Oct. 29, A popular Halloween event, Trick or Treat on the Mile is fun for all ages. Adults can shop in the Boo-tique while children search for sweet prizes.

Oct. 29, Hops and Goblins Beerfest at the Lodi Grape Festival is for adults only and promises a frightfully good time.

Through October, Haggin Museum is an art and local history museum located in the middle of the picturesque Victory Park. Their featured exhibit is “Sci-Fi to Superheroes: The Art of Sideshow Collectibles” a selection of limited-edition fine art prints and three-dimensional figures representing characters from iconic brands such as DC, Marvel and Star Wars.

Oct. 7-22, Stockton Civic Theatre presents four-actor comedy “The Little Dog Laughed.”

Oct. 7-16, The classic horror story “Frankenstein” will play on stage of Al Muller Studio Theatre at San Joaquin Delta College.

Oct. 15, Agua Fresca and Food Festival at the Mexican Heritage Center and Gallery features a competition which will determine who has the best agua fresca in the Central Valley.

Oct. 16, “The Nightmare Before Christmas”at the historic Bob Hope Theatre is a cult-classic stop-motion animated film conceived by Tim Burton, with songs and musical score by Danny Elfman.

Oct. 22, FAHM Fest Stockton at San Joaquin Delta College celebrates Filipino American History Month with performances, art installations, food and speakers.

Oct. 23, The Sights and Sounds of Mexico at San Joaquin Delta College’s Atherton Auditorium features Mariachi Bonitas, the Stockton Chorale and the Stockton Youth Chorale.

If live entertainment is what you need 

Every Thursday, don’t miss the evening jazz concerts at Take 5 Jazz Club inside the Valley Brew on the Mile. Great music, good eats and a laid-back atmosphere are what draws people to this local destination.

Oct. 22, Stockton Soul orchestra presents Sound and Mind Celebration at The Well Stockton.

Oct. 27, The Mexico City’s indie rockers Café Tacvba at the Bob Hope Theatre

Oct. 29, “LOL Comedy Explosion” show features Michael Blackson and others at the Bob Hope Theatre.
