Scheduled Website and Internet Downtime

On Jan. 8 from midnight to 4 a.m., OIT will replace the University's firewall.  This is being done prior to new student activity in order to increase network capacity and enable a better experience for students, faculty and staff.  The extra bandwidth will ensure teaching and administrative activities are not negatively affected by a lack of bandwidth capacity as the school year progresses.  

During this four-hour window, connection to the internet and services that rely on a connection to the internet will be unavailable. These services include Sakai, insidePacific and student e-mail. All incoming traffic to all three University websites will be redirected to http://emergency.pacific.edu, which will have updates regarding the replacement.

All precautions are being taken to ensure the environments are fully operational by the end of this maintenance window.
