2015 Zeiter Piano Competition Winners Announced

Robyn CheshireJan 20, 2015

The annual Zeiter Piano Competition was held in the Recital Hall at University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music on Saturday, January 17, 2015.  It was a wonderful day filled with skilled young performers showcasing their talents and dedication.

Congratulations go out to Anna Boonyanit of Redwood City for taking home first place in the competition.  Anna is a student of Hans Boepple and received $1000.00 for her win. Second place and $750.00 went to Alice Zhu of Cupertino, a student of John McCarthy. Rounding out the top spots was Leyla Kabuli of Oakland in third place, a student of John McCarthy who took home $500.00.

Four contestants were chosen to perform in master classes with the judges and received $100 each.  Those performers were Brian Chen of Cypress, Audrey Cheng of Sunnyvale, Karen Bao of San Ramon, and Jolie Huang of Granite Bay.

Frank Wiens (Competition Director), Sonia Leong, and Sarah Chan took time out of their schedules to adjudicate the competition and were impressed with the student performances.  The competition at the Conservatory is made possible thanks to Henry and Carol Zeiter who love music and supporting young pianists.  This year additional support was provided by Nancy Dorgan, Christopher Dorgan, Liz Konold, and Wayne Nadeau.
