New employees and notable changes, including Councilman Steve Hansen to direct capital initiatives at McGeorge

Steve Hansen '11Steve Hansen '11 has been hired by McGeorge School of Law as the director of capital initiatives. Hansen will begin his new role on Oct. 12. Hansen holds a JD from McGeorge School of Law, and he earned a Certificate for Senior Executives in State and Local Government from Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government, in 2014. He was elected in 2012 as a councilmember in the City of Sacramento, representing the neighborhoods of Downtown, Midtown, Land Park and River Oaks in Natomas.

As the director of capital initiatives in the law school's Career Development Office, Hansen will lead capital events and activities on campus and in the capital community. He will also focus on employment networks and identifying new opportunities in and around government lawyering, public policy and government-related fields for Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Science in Law (MSL), Master of Public Policy (MPP), and Master of Public Administration (MPA) students and alumni. The MPP program will launch in fall 2016 as a full-time day program, and the MPA program will launch also in 2016 as a part-time evening program to serve working professionals. Read more>>

Leslie Anderson has been promoted to international student and scholar advisor in International Programs and Services.

Nico Barredo was promoted to marketing coordinator for the School of Engineering and Computer Science.

Jennifer Dionne has transferred to the position of academic records specialist/evaluator in the Office of Admission.

Nadine Gaillard was promoted to executive assistant to the vice provost for enrollment management.

Christina Gilpin is a new access services specialist for evenings and weekends in the University Library.

Berit Gundersen was promoted from associate provost for faculty affairs and educational effectiveness to vice provost for faculty affairs.

Jesus Margarito has transferred to the position of admissions counselor, part time, in the Office of Admission.

Chet Newland is the senior professor of public administration at McGeorge School of Law. Newland joined McGeorge Law School's Program in Public Policy in September following many years as distinguished professor of public administration at the University of Southern California. Newland has been an active fellow of the congressionally chartered National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) since 1975 and, in 2014, he was the recipient of the highest honor for academy service. Veronica Semler was promoted to director of admissions for pharmacy and health sciences in the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

Isabel Schmitz is a data analyst and admissions coordinator for the Physician Assistant Program of the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry (Sacramento campus).

Rahnea Sunseri is the clinical assistant professor and medical director for the Physician Assistant Program of the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry (Sacramento campus).

Development and Alumni Relations

Sally Cebreros was promoted to executive director of annual giving.

Mindy Danovaro is the assistant dean for development for McGeorge School of Law.      

Jimilynn Dorough was promoted to senior assistant dean for advancement for College of the Pacific.

Stacy Erickson was promoted to assistant dean for advancement for Gladys L. Benerd School of Education and the University Library.

Chris Lynn was promoted to assistant athletic director for development.

Office of the President

Cindy Lee has transferred to the position of projects support specialist in the Office of the President.

Business and Finance

Lorene Berryman and Frank Freeman are new custodians, group I, in Physical Plant.

Robin Dionne has been promoted to senior analyst for research policy in Risk Management.

Kendrick Mayfield and Arthur Serna are new groundskeepers I in Physical Plant.

Student Life

Elizabeth Thompson was promoted to wellness director for the Cowell Wellness Center.

Pacific Technology

Mario Gravina is an IT computer technician (Sacramento campus).

Public Safety

Fabian Pallares was promoted to public safety officer (Sacramento campus).

Pacific Athletics

Lucy Machado-Curran was promoted to student-athlete services and compliance specialist.

Lenoir Ramos Jr. is a new assistant coach for the Pacific women's tennis. Lenoir joins the Tigers after serving as the assistant coach at UNLV for two seasons. At UNLV, he helped the Rebels to the Mountain West Conference championship and the NCAA Second Round in 2013.

Mike Walker was hired as the director of baseball operations.

Search Updates:

The University Librarian
The university librarian finalists will visit each of the campuses in mid- to late-October and hold open forums during those visits. Once these visits are coordinated with the finalists, the search committee will share dates and times for open interaction.

Searches are underway and the search committees are making progress on the following dean searches:

  • Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry
  • Gladys L. Benerd School of Education
