"Brubeck Jazz Intensive," KCRA3 (NBC, Sacramento-Stockton-Modesto): Patrick Langham, director of the Conservatory's Jazz Program and the interim director of the Brubeck Institute, was interviewed about the Brubeck Institute Summer Jazz Colony. The story highlighted the rigorous program for talented high-school jazz musicians from around the world, its connection to Dave and Iola Brubeck and free concerts throughout the week.

"Students experience heart and soul of jazz with Brubeck Institute's Summer Jazz Colony," The Record's TimeOut section, Aug. 10, 2017: The Brubeck Institute Summer Jazz Colony made the cover of the Aug. 10 TimeOut section. The story quotes Patrick Langham, director of the Conservatory's Jazz Program and the interim director of the Brubeck Institute, and two students, Maya Polsky of Manhattan, New York, and Emma Wilburn, of Roseville.

"Striking a Chord," Comstock's Magazine, August 2017: Eric Waldon, an associate professor of music therapy in the Conservatory, commented in this story on the use of music therapy in area hospitals and other settings. The story also mentions Music to Grow On Music Therapy Services, where two University of the Pacific students, Casie Esposito and Nick Xiong, are gaining experience.

"A new release strategy for a new music economy," Disc Makers Blog, Aug. 12, 2017: Keith Hatschek, director of the Music Management and Music Industry Studies programs, is a regular contributor to this music industry blog. This entry is about how a San Francisco artist is shifting to a fan-supported platform rather than releasing albums every few years.

"10 Cutting Edge College Music Education Programs," CollegeMagazine.com, Aug. 8, 2017: The Conservatory of Music's Music Education Program was among those highlighted in this story. It includes a video interview with an alumna of the program who says she feels ahead of other music teachers because of the training she received at the Conservatory.

"Brubeck Institute Summer Jazz Colony in full swing," Central Valley Business Journal, Aug. 7: The 15th annual Brubeck Summer Jazz Colony was featured in this online story. It noted that 23 students from around the world were honing their jazz performance skills through "combo rehearsals, master classes and private instructions" by Conservatory faculty.

"Listening to one another: Ukiah Symphony prepares for varied 2017-18 season," Ukiah Daily Journal, Aug. 9, 2017: The Conservatory's Frank Wiens was mentioned in this story as the featured performer during the Ukiah Symphony's final concert of the season.
