Faculty Compensation Update

Office of the ProvostJan 10, 2017

The Faculty Compensation Task Force, charged with developing a compensation philosophy for Tenure Track/Tenured Faculty that is tied to excellence in teaching and scholarship, began its work in January 2016 and since then has surveyed Pacific faculty, developed a draft compensation philosophy and identified criteria to use when developing a list of peer institutions for compensation. The NTT Task Force, originally charged in February 2015, identified areas to improve the NTT work environment at Pacific and released a final report and set of recommendations in August 2016 (PacificNet login required). The Faculty Compensation Task Force and the NTT Task Force are now aligned, addressing compensation issues using similar strategies and timelines.

The draft compensation philosophy developed by the Faculty Compensation Task Force will be shared with the NTT Task Force for discussion as the NTT Task Force develops its compensation methodology. Both task forces are identifying peers to review and discuss methodologies of faculty compensation. The goal is to develop holistic compensation methodologies that are based upon a philosophy that awards faculty excellence at Pacific. Final recommendations from both task forces are to be completed this spring and presented to the Board of Regents at its May meeting.

If you have questions or would like to learn more, please contact Mary-Beth Moylan, NTT Task Force chair (mmoylan@pacific.edu), or Berit Gundersen, Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs (bgundersen@pacific.edu).
