The information on this site is intended to assist students with majors and minors in the College as they progress towards their degree. We believe that close contact with a faculty advisor plays a key role in helping students establish a solid foundation to their college careers. Each incoming student in the College is assigned a faculty advisor with whom to discuss course selection, degree requirements, and college and post-college planning. In addition, peer student advisors are assigned to freshmen to serve as part of their support team. Students are required to meet with their faculty advisors for pre-registration, and encouraged to meet as needed, during their time at Pacific.
The faculty advisors work with incoming, first-year students during summer orientation and throughout their first fall semester, helping them to plan their schedules in the spring and, even more importantly, serving as a sounding board for the kinds of ideas, concerns and questions about college life that can feel overwhelming to first-year students. Many students remain with this faculty advisor throughout their time at Pacific. However, students who change their major or who declare their major for the first time will be introduced to a new faculty advisor from their major department who will oversee advising thereafter.
College Academic Information and Support
Advising in the College is supported by the Academic Affairs Office in WPC 111-113. Along with faculty advisors, Associate Dean Marcia Hernandez and Academic Information Specialist Eighmee Ferrill meet with students individually to answer any questions they may have about degree requirements. Students are also aided in tracking their academic progress by electronic resources provided by the Office of the Registrar. Resources include a customized online Degree Evaluation program (CAPP) showing each student which requirements he or she has yet to meet and an Articulation Agreement list (ROAR) showing how courses taken elsewhere transfer to Pacific.
