We offer classes in the core-curriculum of majors in chemistry, biochemistry, pre-pharmacy, pre-dentistry, pre-medicine, biology, physics, physical therapy and engineering. Senior students (B.S.) compete very well nationally for admission to the best professional schools and are very competitive in the employment market after graduation. Our Graduate students (M.S./Ph.D.) have secured leading positions in industry and academia nationally and internationally.
The Stauffer Charitable Trust Challenge
In 2013, the Chemistry Department at University of the Pacific was awarded a $500,000 challenge from the John Stauffer Charitable Trust to enhance the research opportunities for undergraduate students majoring in chemistry and biochemistry. The grant will match donations of any amount on a 1:1 basis over the course of a five-year period to create a $1 million John Stauffer Undergraduate Summer Research Endowment in Chemistry and Biochemistry. The students of Pacific's chapter of Alpha Chi Sigma donated $10,000 to provide undergraduate research funding for future biochemistry and chemistry studentss.
In addition to classroom learning, students have many opportunities to gain hands-on experience in our laboratories. Our faculty care deeply about the students at Pacific and are available inside and outside the classroom. We hope you will explore our web pages to learn more about the Chemistry Department. You can find out what students have to say about our program on the Our Students page. Please do not hesitate to contact the department directly for any remaining questions.
