Affirming Neurodivergent Learners
In this interactive workshop, we’ll discuss how we can support a shift toward a neurodiversity mindset at UOP and tangible steps instructors can take to affirm and support the success of learners with autism, dyslexia, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and a variety of other cognitive differences.
Neurodiversity is an identity-affirming and justice-oriented paradigm that recognizes that we all have cognitive differences that come with strengths to be celebrated and challenges to be supported. The asset-based perspective on cognitive differences and teaching strategies we enact with neurodivergent students in mind will help us better welcome and reach the wide variety of learners in our classes.
