Sarah Almétus has been on faculty at the Conservatory of Music in University of the Pacific since fall 2020. Previously, she has taught on faculty at the Omaha Conservatory of Music Summer Institute in 2015-2017. She presently plays with the Stockton Symphony and the Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera and has also played with the Modesto Symphony Orchestra.

Almétus began studying the violin at the age of three. She earned her bachelor’s degree in violin performance and studied with Ruth Meints at Biola University. From there she went on to earn her master’s degree in violin performance with a Suzuki Pedagogy emphasis at East Carolina University. She also studied with Joanne Bath and Ara Gregorian.

In 2001 Almétus moved to Houston, TX, where she taught privately and started a string program at two elementary schools. After moving to Rochester, NY, in 2006, she joined the faculty at the Hochstein School of Music where she co-founded the East String Quartet. She also performed with Ossia, a new music ensemble at Eastman.

Currently, Almetus has an active studio in Davis where she lives with her husband and two children.
