Bay Area Reporter Readers Vote Dugoni School as Best Dentist

April 19, 2018

As it did last year, the Bay Area Reporter has announced that University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry was voted as "Best Dentist" in its annual readers' poll announced in the April 12, 2018 issue.

In its coverage of the awards, the Bay Area Reporter wrote that the "Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco is much used by people living with HIV/AIDS through its CARE (HIV) Dental Services program." They also mentioned the dental school's lower prices (about 30 to 40 percent less expensive than typical Bay Area private practices) as a factor in their choice. The write-up also highlighted the wide range of dental services offered to the public.

All services are offered at the Dugoni School of Dentistry's downtown San Francisco location at 155 Fifth Street in the South of Market (SoMa) neighborhood. Those interested in learning more about the CARE dental services, or in becoming a patient, may call 415.929.6448 or visit dental.pacific.edu/careclinic.

For information about becoming a patient in other clinics, call 415.929.6501 or visit dental.pacific.edu/dental-services.

Because the environment is a teaching clinic where students perform the majority of patient care under the supervision of faculty, treatment takes more time to be completed than it would take in a private practice setting, and not all patient treatment needs are appropriate for a dental school setting.

For the eighth-annual Best of the Bay awards, also known as the "Besties," readers voted for their favorite Bay Area destinations, organizations and businesses in a wide variety of categories.

Founded in 1971, the Bay Area Reporter is a newsweekly serving the area's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities. The publication's website is www.ebar.com.
