COVID-19 leave will expire at Pacific Oct. 10, 2021

Dear Pacific faculty and staff,

The COVID-19 paid sick leave hours are mandated by law to expire September 30, 2021.

Because this date is in the middle of the university payroll period, COVID-19 paid sick leave hours will expire at Pacific on October 10, 2021.

The sick leave hours were created in CA Senate Bill No. 95, and described in Pacific’s Interim Policy for Remote Working Exceptions and Temporary Emergency Leave due to COVID-19.

Although this temporary leave will expire, Pacific employees continue to have leave options, if eligibility requirements are met. These include FMLA (Family Medical and Leave Act) and CFRA (California Family Rights Act). Wage replacement options include SDI (State Disability Insurance) and PFL (Paid Family Leave) through the Employment Development Department.

To learn more about leaves and other benefits, please visit the Human Resources webpage in Pulse (Pacific login required), the Leave Policy or contact the Benefits Team at employee_benefits@pacific.edu.

Sincerely,
