Give your equipment a winter break too!

Pacific Technology encourages all staff to turn off computers, printers and peripherals over the winter break. By turning off your equipment, you help minimize security threats to the university's network. Shutting down systems that are connected to the network also extends their lifespans and helps Pacific save energy when technology is not in use.

Please follow these five tips before you head out the door on your last day:

  1. Power off computers and turn off other equipment, monitors, power strips and lights to conserve energy.
  2. Decrease the risk of a fire hazard by turning off all illuminated décor items.
  3. Keep all of your valuable items safely locked up or take them with you.
  4. Use secure shredder bins to dispose of documents containing confidential information.
  5. Keep personal health information out of sight, and secure it to prevent unauthorized access.

The Stockton and Sacramento Helpdesks will close Friday, Dec. 21 at 5 p.m. However, if you have an IT emergency, please call Pacific Technology at 209.946.7400 and leave a message.

All of us at Pacific Technology look forward to working with you in the coming year!
