Diahann Carroll, actress, singer, model and activist, entertained local fans as one of the featured performers, which included Bob Hope and Telly Savalas, during the Faye Spanos Concert Hall dedication on May 2, 1987. 

Carroll, one of television's premier African-American stars, died Friday. She was 84.
