With the use of chairside scanners, design software, subtractive manufacturing, additive manufacturing combined with CBCT imaging, AI designing and diagnosis, clinicians have effective tools to improve workflows and expedite dental restorations. With these new technologies we also have potential issues with accuracy and precision, the reliance on outsourcing and the high expense of setting up technology that is vulnerable to premature obsolescence. In this lecture, Drs. Stevenson and Yadav will propose a rational balance between the use of digital technology and proven traditional techniques to provide clinicians with a sensible approach to restorative dentistry in the current era. They will provide a global view of the digital dental environment and highlight how certain technologies are essential, while others are clearly optional and potentially not cost effective. Techniques for predictable direct and indirect restorations will be presented with sound scientific and clinical evidence for the methods described. The following topics will be presented:Digital diagnostic technology and AI approachesUsing chairside scanners for recordkeeping and patient educationHow digital photography has changed—the best camera optionsRobotics: the present and futureUsing digital and analog guides to improve preparationsMilled vs. pressed vs printed “ceramics”Cast vs. milled gold restorationsHow to best use 3D printers to improve outcomesDesign software challenges—in-house, AI or outsource?Using traditional analog techniques like rubber dam to achieve predictable resultsUsing digital devices to improve occlusal comfort and stabilityYou Will Learn:To recognize five digital dental landscape opportunities for all dentistsTo integrate digital dentistry into your practice for less than the cost of an operatoryTo understand why printing is better than milling for provisionalsTo perform excellent full-mouth rehabilitation dentistry one tooth at a timeTo analyze occlusion with digital armamentariaSaturday, June 7, 2025Strategic Approaches to Managing Complications in Endodontic TreatmentAdham A. Dr. Saini will explore three key factors of child development essential for dentists and will review the current guidelines from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) regarding radiographic imaging, antibiotic regimens and age-appropriate anesthesia dosing. Effective techniques for diagnosing reversible and irreversible pulpitis in children, as well as how to assess pain and inflammation accurately, will be discussed. The goal is to equip participants with the confidence needed to assess and diagnose pediatric patients effectively. In addition, the fundamentals of pediatric treatment planning, placing special emphasis on space maintenance in primary dentition will be discussed.
