McGeorge's Law, Race & Inequality Lecture Series: "Who's Afraid of Critical Race Theory?"
McGeorge's Law, Race & Inequality Lecture Series: "Who's Afraid of Critical Race Theory?"
05:00 p.m. - 06:00 p.m.
The event will be held in Classroom G on the McGeorge School of Law campus.
Critical Race Theory (CRT) has recently been attacked by conservative politicians for posing a grave threat to the country. CRT is an intellectual movement in law schools that seeks to uncover how the law helps to embed racism in the structure of our legal, political, and economic systems. Professor Jay Mootz will discuss how this recent political scare was orchestrated, explain the primary themes of CRT, and demonstrate why nobody should be afraid of CRT. Professor Mootz will be co-teaching a Seminar on CRT in the spring semester with Professor Leticia Saucedo from UC Davis School of Law. This program will also be available on Monday, August 22 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the Lecture Hall.
