Clinical Health Requirements
Prior to enrolling in the Entry-Level Master of Science in Nursing program, students must complete the following clinical health requirements:
- Health History and Physical Examination
- Physical Examination completed no more than 3 months prior to matriculation
- Annual Requirement
- Hepatitis B Surface Antibody Titer (Blood Test)
- Documentation of Hepatitis B vaccinations.
- Hepatitis B Surface Antibody titer/blood test showing immunity, within 5 years.
- For negative titer/blood test: Documentation demonstrating (at least 1 vaccination dose after the titer drawn date) initiation of secondary vaccination is necessary to matriculate.
- Equivocal titer results: Hepatitis B Booster vaccination (1 shot only) then repeat titer.
- Negative titer results: Repeat Vaccination series (3 shots) then repeat titer.
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) Series
- Documentation of MMR Vaccine.
- MMR antibody titer/blood test showing immunity, within 5 years.
- For negative titer/blood test: Documentation demonstrating (at least 1 vaccination dose after the titer drawn date) initiation of secondary vaccination is necessary to matriculate.
- Equivocal titer results: MMR Booster vaccination (1 shot only) then repeat titer.
- Negative titer results: Repeat MMR Vaccination series (2 shots) then repeat titer.
Varicella Vaccine (Chickenpox) Series
- Documentation of Varicella Vaccine.
- Varicella antibody titer /blood test showing immunity (quantitative preferred; qualitative accepted) within 5 years.
- For negative titer/blood test: Documentation demonstrating (at least 1 vaccination dose after the titer drawn date) initiation of secondary vaccination is necessary to matriculate.
- Equivocal titer results: Varicella Booster vaccination (1 shot only) then repeat titer.
- Negative titer results: Repeat Varicella Vaccination series (2 shots) the repeat titer.
*If you contracted Varicella as a child, vaccination is not required. A positive titer showing immunity and a note from your physician documenting the illness is required.
- Tdap Vaccine (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Acellular Pertussis)
- Documentation of Tdap vaccine (within 3 years).
- Influenza Vaccine
- Documentation of the influenza vaccine for the current season
- Annual Requirement due by October 1st.
- No history of positive PPD test or disease.
- 2‐step PPD screening or QFGT blood test (within 3 months prior matriculation).
- History of positive PPD or disease
- Chest X‐ray within 6 months of matriculation.
- Complete Tuberculosis Symptom Review Annually
- Documentation of previous BCG vaccination, latent TB or active TB treatment
- Annual Requirement:
One Step PPD
*Two step PPD will be required if the One step PPD is not completed prior to your annual due date, QFGT test or Chest X‐ray.
- Note: Please stick with the same testing method for your initial entry requirement and your yearly renewal (e.g. if you got a QFGT blood test upon matriculation, you will need to get a QTFG when you renew one year later).
- COVID Vaccine
- Complete series of COVID vaccine.
- 2023‐2024 updated COVID vaccine required.
- If you have no history of COVID vaccination, only the 2023‐2024 updated COVID vaccine is required.
Drug Screening and Background Check
- Drug screening and background checks are to be completed prior to the first day of class. They can be ordered through Universal via Exxat’s website (you will receive an email from Exxat to create an account).
- Drug Screen: $30*
- Background: $65*

- HIPAA Training
- To be completed on CANVAS course.
- BLS Training
- We will host an optional BLS Training session on campus in your first trimester (date is TBD). Out of pocket student fee will range between $65‐$80.
- If you choose not to attend this session, you are responsible for completing an American Heart Associate approved Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers training course. This must be completed in your first trimester, before 10/15/2024.
- Health Insurance
- Students must provide proof of health insurance.

- University Immunization Requirement
- Nursing students must follow the “Requirements for Health Profession Students” listed on the University’s Immunization Requirements webpage.
