Cal/OSHA requirement for employees to provide vaccination status

Dear Stockton and Sacramento faculty and staff,

Yesterday, Cal/OSHA (the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health) approved a new temporary emergency standard for COVID-19 prevention in the workplace. Information on the temporary standard and frequently asked questions are available on the Cal/OSHA website.

Among other requirements, the standard requires employers to collect information on COVID-19 vaccination status of all employees and implement separate COVID-19 safety measures for unvaccinated workers. It is important to note that these Cal/OSHA standards are stricter than the state or county health department guidelines and Pacific must follow them.

If you have already provided us your vaccination status, thank you for doing so. If you have not yet done so, please upload a scan or image of your completed vaccination card to our secure portal by 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 24.

If you were vaccinated at one of Pacific’s COVID-19 vaccination clinics, we already have your information and you do not need to do anything further.

Beginning June 21, 2021, employees who have provided proof of vaccination may elect to discontinue use of a face mask or face covering while at work, except when required as PPE (e.g., working in the clinics). Vaccinated employees may continue to wear face coverings if they prefer.

Employees who have not provided the university their vaccination information will be considered to be unvaccinated and will need to comply with strict COVID-19 health and safety protocols, including:

  • Wear face coverings at all times except when in a room alone or eating or drinking.
  • Maintain at least 6 feet of distance from others whenever removing the face covering for eating and drinking.
  • Continue to wear a face covering while in a work cubicle in open office areas.

For all employees: the daily screening using the Pacific app is no long required before coming to campus, but we recommend self-screening for COVID-19 symptoms before coming to campus. If you have COVID-19 symptoms, please stay home and contact your health care provider.

If you have not yet been vaccinated, we encourage you to do so for your health and the health of our community. Pacific is offering additional clinics on its Sacramento Campus (starting next Tuesday, June 22) and continues to host clinics on its Stockton Campus (the next one is June 26). Visit California's My Turn website for an appointment.
