Academic Division

Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs appointed
Joan Lin-CereghinoJoan Lin-Cereghino, assistant provost for diversity, has been appointed the new vice provost for faculty affairs. The appointment became effective Aug. 1. In her new role, Lin-Cereghino will provide continued oversight for faculty diversity and inclusion, oversee promotion and tenure processes, support the overall faculty climate (including the COACHE survey this spring), and work closely with faculty to enhance opportunities for their professional development. She will also oversee a restructured and refocused Center for Teaching and Learning. The CTL will work directly with Lin-Cereghino focusing on faculty professional development, while hybrid and online instructional support and compliance assurance will be served by University College's team of instructional designers. This is a one-year full-time, potentially renewal administrative appointment.    

Vice Provost, Academic Incubator, appointed
Berit GundersenBerit Gundersen, who has served as assistant vice provost since 2007, began a new role Aug. 1 as vice provost, academic incubator. In this new role, she will focus on the development of new academic programs through an academic incubator approach. A primary focus this year will be on the development of health-related programs. Gundersen will oversee the development of the associated business plans that will provide the foundation for a new school of health, which is one of the priorities of the university's strategic plan, Pacific 2020R. In this role, she will work with stakeholders across the university to ensure coordinated communications and activities as new programs are explored and developed. This is a one-year, renewable administrative appointment.   

Academic Director of University College appointed
Farley StaniecFarley Staniec, associate professor and chair of the Department of Economics, began as the academic director of University College June 11. This is a part-time position, reporting to Patricia Campbell, dean of University College. In this new role, Staniec will oversee academic content and quality issues for courses offered in University College. This portfolio currently includes the Organizational Behavior degree completion program as well as credit-bearing courses for UOP International. She will retain her faculty status in the College of the Pacific. This is a one year, potentially renewable appointment.  

Kristine Block was promoted to associate director of Academic Resource Management in the Office of the Provost.

Mary Econome transferred to the position of coordinator of field placement in the Career Development Office for the LLM program in the McGeorge School of Law.

Jessica Fuentes is a new audiology program services assistant for the Audiology Program in the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, San Francisco Campus.

Desmond Gallagher was promoted to executive associate dean in the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry.

Ava Hammond was promoted to academic project manager in the Office of the Provost.

Antonia Hernandez is a new administrative assistant II in the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

Jennifer Juanitas was promoted to program director for Pacific's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI@Pacific).

Shivanesh Naicker is a new administrative assistant in the Department of Orthodontics in the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry.

Ashley Swirsky was promoted to administrative assistant II in the Office of the Provost.

Aaron Tazelaar is a new system administrator in the School of Engineering and Computer Sciences.

Cindy Udermann transferred to the position of administrative assistant II in the General Education Program.

Enrollment Management

Lynn Fox, assistant vice provost and executive director of financial aid, retired Aug. 1 from Pacific, having served more than 30 years. Fox joined Pacific in 1987 as the associate director of financial aid and shortly thereafter was promoted to director. In 2016, he was promoted to assistant vice provost and executive director of financial aid. 

Cindy Bogue, associate director of financial aid, will serve as the interim director of financial aid to provide continued leadership for the Office of Financial Aid during the search process.

Kathleen Crisp was promoted to senior assistant director of admission in the Office of Admission.

Megan O'Hearn is the new assistant director of admission for e-communications and marketing in the Office of Admission.

Matthew Peifer is a new admissions coordinator in Student Services on the San Francisco Campus.

Corin Rau is a new admission counselor in the Office of Admission.

Business and Finance

Pedro Aguilar is a new building operations technician in Physical Plant on the San Francisco Campus.

Melissa Dailey is a new administrative assistant III in real estate management in Capital Planning and Space Management.

Jessica Jimenez is a new administrative assistant II in real estate management in Capital Planning and Space Management.

David Lambertson is the new construction project manager in the Capital Planning and Space Management.

Ernesto Lara was promoted to manager of environmental health and safety on the San Francisco Campus.

Pacific Technology

Chandara Phann was promoted to network engineer II in Network Systems.

Student Life

Marylou Bagus-Hansen is the new interim assistant director in the Center for Community Involvement.

Vincent Baxter and Melanie Conde are new residence directors in Housing & Greek Life.

Dayna Cerruti-Barbero is the new director of health services in Pacific Health Services. An accomplished nurse practitioner and manager, Cerruti-Barbero comes to Pacific from Stanford Healthcare-Valleycare Health System where from 2007-2018 she served Las Positas College as Student Health and Wellness Center director, developing, directing and coordinating student health and wellness services inclusive of medical care, behavioral health services, counseling, preventative health care, community collaboration, outreach events and educational activities.  

Athletics

Gabriella Cipolletti is a new athletics marketing and promotions manager.

Michael Erwin was promoted to Head Coach for women's tennis. Erwin joined the Pacific women's tennis staff as an assistant in February 2017 and has been serving as the interim head coach since January 1, 2018.

Kori Jones '18 is a new coordinator in the Community Involvement Program.

Mary Nguyen is a new administrative assistant II in the Center for Community Involvement.

UOP International (UOPI)

Anna Nguyen has been hired as UOPI's marketing coordinator. A recent Pacific graduate, Nguyen studied business administration, marketing and entrepreneurship in the Eberhardt School of Business and was part of the Community Involvement Program. She served as student vice president of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and most recently honed her marketing skills as an intern at the Career Resource Center.
