Pacific rolls out new policy program

Pacific rolls out new policy program

To establish a comprehensive, universitywide policy review process and to build upon best practices, University of the Pacific developed a policy program last year that will be managed by the Office of Compliance. The goal of the program is to ensure strong guidelines to comply with internal processes and external regulations. The program will also standardize the format and essential elements of each universitywide policy.

The program will have its formal rollout starting with the foundational Policy on Policies (POP).  The POP has been approved by the President’s Cabinet on an interim basis to provide a viable policy development process during the requisite open comment period. The POP currently provides for a 30-day comment period for all new policies.

This new site provides information about the policy program, the policy review process and the University Policy Advisory Committee.

The policy program and review process will be presented to various university community committees and departments over the next few months. On Feb. 14, Chief Compliance Officer Margaret Denton will give a presentation during the Staff Advisory Council meeting on the Sacramento Campus. To schedule a presentation, please contact Sally Berry, policy program coordinator, at sberry@pacific.edu or 209.932.30115. For questions regarding the program, please email policies@pacific.edu.
