Sacramento sales tax rate changes April 1

Sacramento sales tax rate changes April 1

The tax rate change effective April 1, 2019, is a citywide sales and use tax rate increase for the City of Sacramento and will be one half of one percent (0.5). Sales tax will increase from 8.25 to 8.75 percent. The new district tax is for specified city limits and only affects the City of Sacramento. Stockton, San Francisco, and Union City will not be affected by this tax increase.

Please note that it is the product receipt date that drives the appropriate sales tax rate (not the order placement date or the invoice date).  Therefore, if a product is received on or after April 1 then the new sales tax rate applies. If you have a question about a particular invoice and sales tax rate, please contact the Stockton Accounts Payable Department at 209.946.2156 (x62156) for guidance.
