Part of McGeorge's hands-on approach to the law school experience includes regular academic guidance to help you identify your goals, access useful resources, and design an academic plan that will prepare you to meet your objectives.
Academic Advising Appointments
All 1L students participate in Orientation, Reorientation, and McGeorge Academic Planning Meetings — or MAP Meetings as we call them. In addition, academic advisors are available to meet with all students throughout the year. Academic advising appointments may be scheduled at any time using this scheduling link, or by contacting the Office of Student Affairs by email or at 916.739.7089.
Faculty Advising
Faculty members are accessible to assist you in designing your academic program. Professors serve as directors for each of our Certificates of Concentration and in addition, are specialists in their areas of scholarship and prior legal practice.
Student Handbook
In addition to one-on-one meetings, the Office of Student Affairs also annually publishes a student handbook which is a comprehensive reference guide for students. There you will find detailed information about graduation requirements, academic policies, program descriptions, and more. First-year students receive the Student Handbook during Orientation. Please refer to this document as questions arise.
