New Deputy CIO Appointed

Jul 28, 2014

Jack Brown, a veteran business and technology leader, began the new position of deputy CIO in the Office of Information Technology on July 16.

He will initially focus on the department's technology initiatives, change and service management and technology planning.

Brown, who relocated from the Seattle area, has moved through executive positions during his career, including serving as chief information officer, chief operating officer and chief executive officer. His experience ranges from entrepreneurial businesses to Fortune 500 companies. Most recently, he was the leader of business planning and implementation at Park Place LTD Motor Group in Bellevue, Wash., after several years of leadership, technology, and business consulting.

Brown will partner with John Jones, who will continue to serve as interim CIO for an extended time. Jones was initially appointed interim CIO in September 2013 to oversee the Office of Information Technology, an organization with a staff of about 60 employees and responsibility for overall management of centralized computing services in support of the University's teaching, research and administrative programs.
