Marielle Gipson, DHSc, MPH, earned her Master of Public Health from the University of Southern California in 2020 with a concentration in Community Health Promotion and Communication. She completed her Doctor of Health Science with a concentration in Educational Leadership at University of the Pacific in 2024. Her doctoral project and manuscript examined Physician Assistant students’ perceptions and confidence in health literacy and communication, reflecting her commitment to improving patient communication and educational outcomes in PA training.

Dr. Gipson began her career with the University of the Pacific Physician Assistant Program as a staff member and was promoted to a faculty role in 2022. As the clinical coordinator, she coordinated the clinical curriculum. She teaches and supports coursework in public health, health literacy, biostatistics, and research assessment. Her scholarly interests center on health literacy, patient education, and communication in PA education, with a focus on preparing future clinicians to effectively engage diverse patient populations.

Outside of work, Dr. Gipson enjoys watching basketball and football with her husband and son. A self-described food enthusiast, she also loves traveling throughout Northern California to explore new restaurants, especially Japanese and sushi spots.
