An experience with Black Stockton cinema
Complexity, an award winning film from Pacific alumnus Cleve Brown, tells the story of a young Black man, Quentin, and his encounter with the police officer who killed his father seven years after his father’s passing. Issues of grief, gun violence, faith and adversity are all explored in this award-winning film that stars Stockton native and "America’s Got Talent" champion Brandon Leake. This feature was filmed in Stockton and features a mixture of local talent and venues that represent Stockton proudly.
A discussion with Brown and Leake will follow the screening. Topics will include the process of making the film, mending the divide between police and citizens impacted by police brutality and healing social divisions in a nation deeply impacted by gun violence. There will be an opportunity for audience questions.
