Join us for the first annual Flute Fest hosted at the University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music by Brittany Trotter, Assistant Professor of Practice in Flute. Headlining guest for the Flute Fest event includes Terri Sanchez, Miyazawa Performing Artist and Assistant Professor of Flute at Bowling Green State University.

The event will include master classes, flute choir, performances, vendor showcase featuring Flute World - San Francisco and workshops aimed for flutists of all ages.

The registration fee is $15 and includes a full day of events, lunch, and a swag bag. This event is open to any flute student or community member. Register today.

9:00-9:30am: Registration (Buck Hall Lobby)

9:30-10:00am: Rockstar Warm up (Buck Hall 113)

Revamp your long tones and technique practice exercises with beat tracks from modern popular pop songs. From Beyoncé to Taylor Swift, this workshop will have you rocking out! 

10:00-11:00am: Flute Choir reading session (Buck Hall 113)

Play along with the participants and UOP flute studio member.

11:00am-12:00pm: Flute Repair with Dr. Keith Hanlon from Flute Authority (Buck Hall 113)

This repair presentation is designed to educate the player about sending a flute in for service, the processes and steps involved in the repair, and how to tell when it's time to schedule a service. Q & A welcome!

12-1:00pm: Lunch

1:15-3:15pm: Open Masterclass with Dr. Terri Sanchez (Recital Hall)

Anyone is welcomed to play for Dr. Terri Sanchez to receive feedback and learn about the flute. Play a scale, etude, or a piece you are working on. Bring your flutes and your questions!

3:15-4:30pm: Vendor showcase with Flute World (Buck Hall 113)

Shop & try out flutes with Flute World of San Francisco! 

4:30-5:30pm: Flute Fest Concert - featuring UOP Flute choir, Flute Fest participants & Dr. Terri Sanchez (Recital Hall)

Prize-winning flutist Brittany Trotter leads a diverse career as an educator, soloist, and collaborator. She joined the faculty of University of the Pacific’s Conservatory of Music in Stockton, CA, in the fall of 2021.

Terri Sanchez 
Terri Sanchez

Terri Sánchez is a Miyazawa Performing Artist and the newly appointed Assistant Professor of Flute at Bowling Green State University. Legendary flutist Paula Robison writes, “Sánchez has a beautiful presence as a player, and her sparkling clear sound spins out and fills the air with poetry.” After Sánchez premiered his new work for flute and piano, Archetypes, composer George Chave wrote, “her ability to pull the audience in and take them along for the ride is a true joy. Terri is a musician’s musician.”
