Live and Lead at Pacific

Living within Pacific's residential campus community, you’ll find your pursuit of knowledge enhanced and your range of cultural and social opportunities expanded. As a result of living on campus, you will become more confident, more knowledgeable about different cultures and people, and more engaged in your communities.

Living at Pacific also offers many ways for you to make an impact at Pacific. With the Residence Hall Association (RHA), National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH), and Resident Assistants (RAs) leading the charge, living on campus is filled with memory-making opportunities.

Student and RA
Resident Assistants

RAs are full-time students and leaders trained by professional housing staff and campus partners. An RA serves as the day‐to‐day contact person with residents and is responsible for building community on a floor or section, serving as a resource for residents, and communicating policies and regulations. RAs are first responders in student conflicts, crises, and emergencies. They are also role models who serve the needs of students by providing program opportunities, developing safe and comfortable residence hall communities, and helping students become acquainted with the campus, the community, and its resources.

Residence Hall Association

The Residence Hall Association plans educational, social, cultural, and recreational programming for all residential students. If you’re living on campus, you’re automatically a member of RHA. That includes your roommate and all of your friends who live in the halls.

RHA is a student-run organization sponsored by Residential Life and Housing. We are here to serve you as campus residents and ensure your voices are heard. Advocating for yourself, your experiences, and others and their experiences is a great way to participate in RHA. If you're looking for a way to get involved, we recommend getting connected to your community council as a first step. Connect with your Resident Assistant when you move in to learn more!

Our RHA is affiliated with the Pacific Association of College and University Residence Halls (PACURH).

University of the Pacific's Residence Hall Association (RHA) is dedicated towards the advocacy of students, specifically within the Residential Life and Housing (RLH) department. Our mission is to create leadership opportunities for residents and create a cohesive living community in the University of the Pacific's residential communities. RHA is built upon two pillars:

Leadership

RHA provides opportunities to grow as leaders and advocates. The first step towards growing as a leader is speaking up in your own home. RHA must provide platforms for residents to speak about their housing experience and build connections between the students and administration. If students are to be the speakers, then henceforth, RHA shall be the microphone.

Community

In addition to building upon the individual, RHA dedicates itself towards the creation of a united community for our residents. We host a wide variety of programs that serve to transform Pacific's campus into a home and seek to create a foundational living-learning community for our residents.

A community council is a group of residents (like you!) from a specific community who work together throughout the year to plan events, attend RHA meetings, discuss community concerns, and collaborate with RHA for community building socials and initiatives towards creating positive change. They also act as a resource to you when you have any questions, comments, or concerns. Community councils tend to have a president, treasurer, secretary, and marketing roles, but each community council can choose to operate how it best suits their community and needs. Any resident can be a member of their community council.

While in community council, you help carry on traditional programs, create new and exciting programs and initiatives,  assist in designing community apparel, and make lasting memories.

We look forward to seeing you! Connect with your Resident Assistant when you arrive on campus to learn more.

A community is a building or group of buildings. It’s how Residential Life and Housing and RHA have organized and refer to the buildings on campus. You can live in a residence hall or apartment and be a part of a community. There are four different communities in total.

Join your RHA!

The RHA is here to represent YOU and we need your participation to do so! If you have a question or want to get involved, send us an email.
