Putting students first

Pacific’s mission is to provide a superior, student-centered learning experience integrating liberal arts and professional education to develop the next generation of great leaders and lifelong learners, by teaching students not what to think, but how to think.

From its 1851 founding, the university has consistently made the choice to look forward, create change and deliver education that puts our students first.

Hands-On Education

Pacific academic programs emphasize hands-on learning through internships, externships, clinical rotations and public service placements as well as campus-based real-world learning and undergraduate research.

All undergraduate degree programs are fully in person, as are most professional degree programs, while the university is successfully growing its offerings of all-online graduate degree programs geared toward working professionals.

Service is an essential part of the learning enterprise at Pacific. Law clinics, dental clinics, vaccination centers, audiology and speech clinics and health screenings serve thousands of Northern California residents while honing students’ skills.

Living-Learning Communities

Living on campus is a central part of the Pacific undergraduate experience, helping students build community and feel at home throughout their time in Stockton. We place a premium on the residential learning experience, offering a four-year on-campus housing guarantee.

Pacific is also one of only a few universities in the country with a dedicated facility designed to provide affordable housing for student veterans, and there are six residential Greek houses.

The Pacific Tigers compete in NCAA’s Division I with 21 women’s and men’s teams, most in the West Coast Conference. Men’s golf, men’s tennis and men’s and women’s water polo are nationally ranked.

Sustainability

Pacific is a living laboratory dedicated to finding sustainable solutions. Renewable energy sources now provide 100% of the electricity needs at Pacific across all three campuses, making it one of only 16 universities nationwide powered entirely by renewable electricity. An interdisciplinary sustainability major launched in fall 2025.
