Rosie's Professional Biography

Rosie Montes has 13 years of experience in higher education at both the community and university level. Rosie has spent her career strongly committed to higher education, working with families, students, staff, and faculty. With a dual experience, both as a student employee and as full-time staff, she grasps the knowledge and experience in higher education.

Rosie earned her Master of Arts in Education, Student Affairs/ Educational and Organizational Leadership. Her educational journey has contributed to the body of knowledge regarding assessment, general business knowledge, organizational behavior, student-learning outcomes, broad base of technical skills, and diversity and inclusion.

At the University of the Pacific, Rosie started her career as a Financial Aid Counselor and a Financial Aid Analyst where she co-managed the Annual Student Financial Aid and College Awareness Event, held at the University of the Pacific. She worked closely with parents and students on ways to fund their college education. Other responsibilities included processing Direct Loans, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and program management.

Rosie is currently serving as the director for the newest TRIO program, University of the Pacific's Upward Bound program, where she works closely with first-generation and income eligible students and families from Edison High School. The Upward Bound program is a 1.3 Million federally funded program that helps students with academic and personal development.
