Pathway Program

The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Business Analytics/Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) Pathway Program offers an accelerated program of study for students who want to complete their BSBA in Business Analytics in four years while earning credits toward the MSBA degree. Undergraduate students apply to this pathway program in the spring semester of their sophomore year. To be eligible for the program, they must have a minimum grade point average of 3.3 in Business Analytics courses and must have completed MATH 37 and BUSI 100 with a grade of ‘B’ or better. Once in the program, pathway students must complete 120 units and all other BSBA requirements by the end of their senior year.

Fifteen of these units (five courses) may come from the MSBA program and may also count towards the MSBA degree if the student achieves a grade of ‘B’ or better. To be eligible for admission into the MSBA program, pathway students must obtain a grade of ‘B’ or better in the five MSBA courses and maintain a minimum 3.3 grade point average in Business Analytics courses. Pathway students apply to MSBA program in the fall of their senior year and must be accepted before moving on to the MSBA program. If accepted, they can complete the MSBA in one additional semester.

Students in the pathway program must take five courses in the MSBA program during their junior and senior years: MSBA 210, MSBA 230, MSBA 240, MSBA 260, and MSBA 270. These courses may count toward both the 120-unit BSBA in Business Analytics requirement and the 30-unit MSBA program requirements.

In order to be admitted and transfer these courses into the MSBA program, students must earn a grade of “B” or better in all five courses and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.3 in Business Analytics courses. Students who do not apply to the MSBA program can still earn a BSBA by completing all program requirements in the Business Analytics major. In this case, they may substitute completed MSBA coursework in which they earned a grade of “C” or better for comparable courses in the Business Analytics major.
