Brady Anderson

Brady Anderson is an acclaimed cellist, chamber musician, educator and arts administrator.

Anderson launched his career with a solo debut at age 15 performing Joseph Haydn's Cello Concerto in C Major. He was recognized with top honors by the Music Teachers National Association and the American String Teachers Association.

Anderson serves as executive director of the Benicia Chamber Players and is visiting cello faculty at University of the Pacific. An active chamber musician, he has collaborated with distinguished artists throughout the United States and abroad. He is the cellist and a founding member of the Verve Trio and previously served as interim cellist of the Thalea String Quartet.

Anderson’s chamber music mentors include Menahem Pressler, Jorja Fleezanis, Anne Epperson, Atar Arad, Paul Hersh, Ian Swensen, the Pacifica String Quartet, the Juilliard String Quartet, the JACK Quartet, the Miró Quartet and many other distinguished artists.

At home across multiple musical genres, Anderson has recorded with dozens of artists, including Nataly Dawn, Cypress Hill and Jennifer Hudson. He can also be heard on “Canto America,” the Grammy-nominated album by La Orquesta Sinfonietta.

As an orchestral musician, Anderson has performed with the Stockton Symphony, Monterey Symphony, Fresno Philharmonic, Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, Owensboro Symphony Orchestra and Columbus Indiana Philharmonic. He has served as principal cellist of the UC Berkeley Symphony Orchestra, Berkeley Chamber Orchestra and the Indiana University Philharmonic, Symphony, Concert, and Summer Orchestras. Throughout his career, he has performed under internationally renowned conductors including Esa-Pekka Salonen, Gustavo Dudamel, Marin Alsop and Jakub Hruša.

A passionate educator, Anderson has coached cello sections and chamber ensembles for the Solano County Youth Orchestra, Berkeley Chamber Orchestra, UC Berkeley Symphony Orchestra, California Youth Symphony, Oakland Symphony Youth Orchestra and the Indiana University Philharmonic, Symphony, and Concert Orchestras. He has been on faculty for several teaching residencies and festivals including the Pacific Music Institute and the San Domenico International Summer Music Academy. He currently maintains a private cello studio in San Ramon, California.

Anderson earned a Master of Music in cello performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where he studied with Peter Stumpf and was awarded the prestigious Janos Starker Scholarship. He received a Bachelor of Arts in music from the University of California, Berkeley, studying with Irene Sharp and Jonathan Koh, and was honored with the Eisner Award for outstanding musical achievement.
