Dr. Brittany Auernig-Roan is the Assistant Dean at the University of the Pacific’s Benerd College, where she leads the Teacher Education Programs, supporting innovative undergraduate and graduate pathways in education. With over 20 years of experience working with diverse student populations, Dr. Auernig-Roan is a passionate advocate for inclusive education, teacher preparation, and continuous program improvement.

She holds a Doctor of Education in Special Education from Northcentral University, a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from California State University, Sacramento, and multiple California teaching credentials, including a Clear Mild/Moderate and Extensive Support Needs Credential with Autism Certification.

Throughout her career, Dr. Auernig-Roan has served in a variety of leadership, teaching, and mentoring roles across higher education and K-12 settings. She has directed special education schools, supervised student teachers, led accreditation and assessment efforts, and built sustainable partnerships with local education agencies to expand teacher residency models. Her work centers on equity-driven practices, faculty development, and the recruitment and support of diverse educators.

An active researcher and presenter, Dr. Auernig-Roan’s scholarship focuses on mentorship in teacher preparation, support for part-time faculty, and the socio-emotional development of students with disabilities. She has contributed to grant initiatives focused on expanding teacher residency programs and continues to advocate for system-level improvements that enhance educator preparation and student success.
